This is My Saturday ---> o7-o3-2o1o

i tweeted about how “Saturday being shitty early in the morning” when i found out that Brazil was eliminated from the 2010 World Cup ( :P) I even thought the rest of my Saturday will be just as stinky shit.

Well, it turns out— it wasn’t Shitty at all! (ok enough of the word shitty, lol)

Aside from the two hour torture doing my show amid froo-froos in the afternoon, all went well.

*laugh fest with office mates at Bonheur.

*I get to watch Penelope and Teen Wolf on Star Movies.

*We finally got moolah at home!

*Bought a 30-buck tee and 25-buck shirt dress from the Ukayan

*Ate a sumptuous dinner of pork barbecue with load of rice (ym yum!)

*chatted like crazy with my older sister Te Cuky about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, especially the stories of the Horcruxes (hahaha! weird, i know, right?) till we fell asleep.

*smoked like crazy.

So i guess, there is always a reason for grins everyday. They may not be big, life changing events but hell, every little detail in life IS life changing.

Cheery, isn’t it?

And oh, P.S. this is to that someone who kept looking at me like i am some sort of homeless troll with my black pedals, green hooded shirt and flowery sneakers ( my “just rolled outta bed” look) hear this: I did not live to meet certain fuckin’ standards. At least i have something solid inside my skull. Hahaha! Super cheery!

till next time.

This is how i shake the blues away.

Music plus nonstop talk.

I may not please everyone with my imperfect, shitty grammar, crazy, super boisterous laugh filled, alternative rock-filled style of deejaying, BUT i guess, it’s all cool.

Cause I am only being me.

@okfm Krissy as herself

cheery!

Oh Happy Day!

Oh Happy Day.

Yep, the truth of it all is that my day started shitty.

I did not feel like waking up, let alone letting go of my good ol’ pillow, but I gotta face the day and WORK.

I thought the day will be far from comfort and glee, as I have a million worries swirling in my head. So I was fixed into thinking: “hell, i gotta deal with Tuesday, no other options.”

So i head on to work, a little early in fact. :) And just looked as if i just rolled out of bed (my usual look) and waited for the rest of my office mates to arrive.

Hmmm, first thing I did, round a quarter before 7AM was to check who won yesterday’s game Brazil VS Chile for the 2010 South Africa World Cup.

drumroll please…….. I FUCKIN SQUEALED! BRAZIL WON! QUARTER FINALS BABY! WAAAAAAH!

So there, one reason to rejoice, I can hear the Hallelujah chorus :)

I thought, well, at least, i can go through the day knowing BRAZIL made it to Quarter Finals. (changed my wallpaper to another Kaka pic) Hehe

Minutes later, (as a prayer kept rewinding in my head hoping we get our salary today—since I have loads of bills to pay) I saw our supervisor Sir Onyok, all the way from Naga, carrying an envelope of (as i see it) Pay checks! Hahahaha!

WOHOOOO!

Another worry down!

Then, about an hour into work, Mam Lis broke the news to me, :) I am gonna get my additonal allowances starting this month of July.

Millions of Hurrahs! God, the day can’t get any better than this. :)

To top it off, my work is going on smoothly, oh well, so far. Hahaha!

At lunch break, I saw the fresh premiere of the trailer of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I got goosebumps seeing it. Will seriously miss the Hogwarts people, muggles, Death Eaters, mythical creatures and everybody in the Wizarding World. :( huhu

So so far that’s it. :) I’ll update more in a while IF my day continues to be in a super eventful mode. :)

Cheery!

Love Songs To Die For (The Not So Cheesy Version)

This is the rundown of my most favorite love songs. No, this does not include "Wind Beneath My Wings" or "Endless Love" :) I am pretty sure you're gonna enjoy my list though, or not. haha!

Chasing Pavements by Adele
oh yes, this track is major killer, most especially for someone who loves another unconditionally and does not bother to even blink at his or her. Off the album 19, this song will get you singing your hearts out, specially the LSS worthy line in the chorus "Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements, even if it leads nowhere??"

Sweet and Low by Augustana
Correct me if I'm wrong but some girls would die for love songs that are not ballads, those which got guitar riffs.. In short, alternative love songs. (I know I do lol) This song, just one of the millions of amazing to die for alternative tracks that makes me melt like butter. Every time it hits chorus-- i die. lol Favorite line: "Hold me down, and I'll carry you home" aw. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Dan Layus is such a charming hottie. Imagine him singing the song to you. Swoon*

Head Over Feet by Alanis Morisette
Who says my favorite rock heroine whose album Jagged Little Pill i got addicted to when i was a mere eight year old is only good enough for rage-filled songs that include lines such as "would she go down on you in a theater?" (classic lyrics by the way.) Alanis Morisette's got some of the most HONEST lyrics i have ever heard. And it undeniable that as long as its REAL, its AWESOME. Her song Head Over Feet says " i never felt this healthy before" and "thanks for your patience" its like she does not need sickeningly flowery lines to complete this great song. And I knew what FWB means now because way back grade school days I thought its just some freakin acronym. lol

Someday We'll Know by the New Radicals

I know others would say the version with Mandy Moore in it is better, but needless to say the original is a stoked track that will literally send me squealing any time anywhere. Basically it is a song about love and regret. Notice the series of questions in the song? Like "why the sky is blue?", "Whatever happened to Amelia Earheart?" "Did the captain of the Titanic cry?" Seem as if we hold no answer for any of these. Just like love-- it seems like an endless question. (cheeseball alert) "A Walk to Remember" movie date, anyone? :)

Use Somebody by Kings of Leon
This song from this super rockin foursome is the epitome of the perfect love song. Nostalgic, Heart warming, Amazing. The tune will set one off to Love-Love-Land :)

NEED I SAY MORE? (CLAP,CLAP!) Record of the year on Grammys!!!

Maybe It's Just Me.. or Maybe it's Just You, who is too scared to admit the shit that's REAL.

What's so sad is that everyday seems to be a circus;
we are a bunch of clowns who knows nothing but display themselves as a spectacle. That is what we all are. Nobody ever seem real now any more.

MASKS ARE FADS, they are the NEWEST BLACK..

WHAT IS A FRIEND ANYWAY? How can we be sure our closest companion is not our most sly enemy?

BACKSTABBERS ARE AS NATURAL AS THE AIR WE BREATHE.

Hostility lurks beneath every depth: Hostility that is suagr coated, honey dipped and crystallized..

HOW DEPRESSING, NO ONE SEEMS TO REALIZE THE WONDERS OF TRUTH: Both disastrous wonders and wonder wonders.

Where are the things that truly matter? Where are the things that are truly essential, yet overseen all the time? How about the fact that if we continue ignoring whats really important, we might not notice it even if it hits us between our eyes? We chose to be lame, resenting non drivel thoughts and sticking to crappy non sense'.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

Did we live to endless banter of talk about stupid stuff? Did we live to enjoy a cup of expensive latte when there is a million children out there dying because of empty stomachs? We worry about not having the latest shoes when someone, somewhere endures the cruel grounds with his or her bare feet?

JUST WHEN YOU THINK YOUR BAD HAIR DAY'S THE WORLD'S WORST PROBLEM.

Are we going to continue being vultures? Thriving on useless and corrupting gossip? Feeding on other people's misery instead of just being happy with the good things and the true happiness that resides in each of us. if we just know how to live life with

LIFE.
LIGHT.
ZEST.
OPTIMISM.
and HOPE.

The world needs a little more

INDIVIDUALITY.
GENUITY.
REAL LAUGHTER.
KINDNESS.
and LOVE. <3

WHY DONT WE ALL GIVE THESE TO THE WORLD?

There's a TIM BURTON CHARACTER in all of us.

Alice in Wonderland is doing good in the box office, oh wait hold on, scratch that--it did OH!some. I guess its bound that way for several reasons.

1.Disney Classic in 3D2.Johnny Depp in another out of this world, larger than life character
3. It's a TIM BURTON film

--meaning weird is written all over it, and anything weird is good. :D

I have seen practically every Tim Burton film, and even though most would say most of 'em are Halloween themed, I'd say it's completely more than that.

The way Tim Burton creates and recreates characters is simply beyond words. Each one of them, from Beetle Juice, Edward Scissorhands, Jack Skellington, to Willy Wonka, all of them are eccentrically unique and whether we'd like to admit it or not, we can very much relate to at least one of them.

You may be Edward Scissorhands-- whose difference is something he did not choose, but lived with his uniqueness in a life of love and zest. He epitomized a good heart despite what other people view him to be: a monster
Or you can probably see yourself as Jack Skellington--somebody who seems to have everything, but is still searching for more. He ended up doing something wrong and in the end realized there are things that are simply not meant to be. He accepted the errs he made and had the courage to correct them.

You may be a little bit of Sweeney Todd-- just leading a simple life when ugly hearted people took away his love. He ended up as a murderer, a bravado of vengeance and hatred, whose life is concluded with justice-- getting what he gave, and learning the bitter truth that revenge is not sweet, AT ALL.

Or may be you see yourself as Emily, The Corpse Bride-- waiting for her one true love. She has all the reasons to be angry, to live a life of animosity caused by the torturous melancholy, but her honest to goodness pure heart knows better. And in the end, she was rewarded with longing peace in heaven.

So next time you see a Tim Burton film, do not just enjoy the film...

LEARN THAT ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, WE ARE THOSE AMAZING WEIRDLY CUTE AND UNIQUE CHARACTERS WE SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN.

Sincerely Yours,
Kreeesa aka Alice lol :D

before you've seen TWILIGHT.. before you've read THE VAMPIRE DIARIES..before you've tasted TRUE BLOOD.. there was a bunch of LOST BOYS..

Boohoo.

Yeah, let's admit it, we are fascinated by tales of gorgeous bloodsuckers--They have been the most absolute favorite characters in books, tv series and yes, the big screen. It is the mystery that surrounds their world and the seemingly amazing stories of century old hot vampires which most of the time involves falling in love with mortals and are torn from giving in with blood lust and that crazy little thing called love (wow that's Queen track lol) are stories we certainly would not want to miss, if not-- we find entertaining. hehe

But before there's the sickening saccharine bravado of Edward Cullen, Bella Swan, and Jacob Black(by the way Taylor Lautner recently turned eighteen, meaning it is now legal to lust over him) from the Twilight Saga, or another gorgeous love sucks triangle (lol) of Elena, Stefan, and Damon of The Vampire Diaries, or even a vampire with some hot HillBilly twang Bill and the love of his life mortal mind reader Sookie Stackhouse of True Blood, there is one amazing eighties film that probably defined the vampire genre in mainstream Hollywood--just a bunch of "Lost Boys" who lend fangs some major Hollywood fame.

click here to read the film plot:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lost_Boys

and see the movie trailer right up here:

It is one hell of a sassy, sexy and comedy vampire flicks ever, credits for the make up too-- not overly done, simple plot, cool and amazing cast. The Lost Boys started the trend of vampires teeming the modern world. It is also one of the few coming of age vampire flicks that are worth watching for. This movie is definitely a cult classic that just like wine, gets even better in time.

THE LOST BOYS certainly does not SUCK. It can't get any better too.

Don't you ever forget about THE BREAKFAST CLUB

This is a major classic track-- Probably millions of kids danced to this one during the 80's.
We will never forget The Breakfast Club-- Its the MOM OF ALL TEEN FLICKS!

It reminded us of the nostlagic final moment of the film

(voice overs)
Brian Johnson: Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong...but we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain...
Andrew Clark: ...and an athlete...
Allison Reynolds: ...and a basket case...
Claire Standish: ...a princess...
John Bender: ...and a criminal...
Brian Johnson: Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.

Don't You, Forget About Me!

PRETTY IN PINK is classic.

At my age, people would ask, "If you were born in 1988, how come you love Brat pack films?". Obviously, they find my interest for old school teen flicks weird. Im still a mere zygote when John Hughes films graced the cinemas. :)I guess my answer to that is this: these films are CLASSIC. Take my super favorite, Pretty in Pink.

I guess when one get to watch this, or coincidentally catch it over at HBO, they would say it is just a typical coming-of-age movie about a girl struggling with her high class suburban high school, dealing with everyday teen troubles: fitting in, getting noticed by boys and creating her own persona along the way.

HERE'S A QUICK BUT COMPLETE PLOT OF THE FILM:

Andie Walsh (Molly Ringwald) , a poor, smart but fashion-conscious girl who has a crush on one of the preppy rich boys in her school, Blane McDonough(Andrew McCarthy). When Andie and Blane try to get together, they encounter resistance from their respective social circles.

Andie lives on "the wrong side of the tracks" with her unemployed dad (Harry Stanton) who is struggling with depression after Andie's mother abandoned the family some years before. Andie spends a lot of energy trying to help him to get a job. As they have very little money, Andie buys clothes which are from the thrift store and uses her sewing and fashion skills to create unique outifts for herself. She drives an old, beat-up, dusty rose-colored lowlight Karmann Gia Her best friend is Duckie Dale(Jon Cryer). Duckie has intense feelings for Andie, but plays it off as a joke in front of her. In school, she and Duckie are harassed by friends of Blane, the so-called "richie" kids Benny (Kate Vernon) and Steff (James Spader). Steff is attracted to Andie as well, but she knows he's only after sex.

Andie works at TRAX, a New Wave store in the neighborhood of Chinatown Chicago, managed by her older friend and mentor Iona (Annie Potts) , whose quirky and unconventional dress sense is more influenced by her personal tastes than by her age group, and moans about her newly single life. Iona advises Andie to go to her senior prom despite not having a date. Blane and Andie talk for a brief moment as Blane buys an album (swoon, swoon, swoon!). She indirectly discusses him with her friends at the local club, CATS.

Soon, Blane makes his move via chatting in the computer lab and Andie is smitten ( as I am. been squealing the whole time this was on!) Blane ventures out to the area at school where the punks, metalheads and New Wavers hang out during lunch and after classes, and asks Andie on a date. Steff begins questioning why his best friend "was conversing with a mutant," but Blane brushes him off.

On the Friday night of the date, Andie waits for Blane at TRAX, but he is late. Duckie arrives instead, only to find Andie upset because she thinks she's been stood up. When Blane finally arrives, Duckie and Andie argue. Duckie tries to convince her that Blane will only hurt her. After a few harsh words, Duckie storms out, and Andie goes on her date.

First, Blane suggests going to a party Steff is throwing. But the party isn't exactly what Blane expected, and Andie is treated poorly by everyone, including a drunk Steff and Benny. Andie, in turn, suggests going to CATS, where they discover Iona sitting with Duckie. Duckie is immediately hostile toward Blane, and as he and Andie start walking out of the club, Duckie kisses a startled Iona.

Blane offers to take Andie home:

Blaine: What is wrong?

Andie: I dont want you to take me home because I don't want you to see where i live!

However, he drops her off there and they kiss (one of the most romantic kiss on the big screen, according to my honestly weird opinion, the neck and face grabbing are so real, non melodramatic but sensual, God f$#% Andrew for being so hot!) after he asks Andie to the prom The next day, Andie visits Iona in her loft. Iona begins reminiscing about her own prom, donning her old pink prom dress and beehive hair do.

At home, Andie's father surprises her with a pink dress he bought for her at the thrift shop. Questioning how he was able to afford it, Andie discovers he has been faking going to a full-time job. The two begin to fight until her father breaks down, obviously still bitter and depressed about his wife having left him. Andie responds by comforting him and they make up but she, too, is affected by the abandonment of her mother.

Meanwhile Blane, pressured by Steff, begins distancing himself from Andie. He avoids her at school and doesn't return her calls. She finally confronts him. He claims that he had asked someone else to go to the prom with him before he'd asked her, but had forgotten. Best part of this is Andie's outburst--

Andie: Just admit it! You don't want to be seen with me! You're embarrassed to be seen with me!

Andie runs away, heartbroken. Duckie overhears Steff trashing Andie and they end up fighting in the hallway. Teachers stop the fight, and Duckie runs out.

Andie finds Iona preparing for a date with a yuppie dressing like a normal adult for a change. Iona is already thinking about marriage. At first she is too wrapped up in her new romance to notice that Andie is upset. But her newly found happiness inspires Andie and she goes home with her friend's old dress and creates a new pink dress in which she decides to attend the prom to quoting Andie; "I'll show them they didn't break me."

When she gets to the prom she has second thoughts about braving the crowd on her own. Just as it looks like she may back out, she sees Duckie, also dressed up. They walk into the ballroom hand in hand. Steff snickers and begins trashing Andie and Duckie again, only to be finally told off by the normally passive Blane, who says that Andie could never be bought.

Blaine: She thinks your shit. And deep inside you know she's right

Blane shakes Duckie's hand and talks to Andie

Blaine: I have always believed in you, I just didn't believe in me. I'll always love you no matter what.

Blaine then leaves the prom. Duckie concedes that she was right, "He's not like the others" and advises Andie to go after him. After Andie leaves, a blonde girl (Kristy Swanson) notices Duckie and silently invites him to go over and dance with her.

Outside of the prom, Andie catches up with Blane in the parking lot just before he gets to his car and they kiss.

********

It's pretty simple why i love the film. The characters may be painstakingly ordinary but they are perfect mirrors of teens struggling to go through young age. Plus, it is the fact the teenage woes will remain one of the most erratic subjects ever.

Pretty in Pink is a great hip romance comedy. It's about love across class lines, friendship, individuality and the evil nature of rich kids in crisp shirts.

And I can't get over Andrew McCarthy's smile :D--one of the million reasons why Pretty in Pink rocks.
